Extra Virgin Coconut Oil Vs. Extra Virgin Olive Oil: WWE Version

Extra virgin olive oil seems to be an ingredient called for in every other recipe in all recipe books. Not to mention that if your recipe book is all about the Italian or Greek variety that you might as well get the EVOO out before you even open the book. Not that we’re complaining. We are truly fond of the stuff. There is something we find ourselves even more fond of as of late. Natural unrefined organic extra virgin coconut oil. We find the flavor to be just a touch more to our liking but that’s just us. The names are so alike, we started to wonder something. We became curious about exactly what the differences between the two are. We now present to you a two-round standoff between EVOO and EVCO!

Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil or Olive Oil: LETS GET READY TO RUMBLE

Round One: Cooking
The nutritional contents of these oils are more or less the same, so we went for the next most popular use for oils. Heated cooking. The first thing you want to do is add something to your pan to ensure nothing sticks. Some choose to use butter or a nonstick spray to attain this goal. We think oil is a better option all around instead. But which oil? We have found that olive oil is better for cooking over high heats. Coconut Oil is better for sautéing over medium heats and for foods that need to spend a little more time over the stove. With a higher smoking point, olive oil wins this round if we go by the book. But wait. Most recipes call for things to be cooked on a moderate temperature rather than a high one. EVOO wins this round officially but we’re still gonna use the EVCO.

Round Two: Not Cooking
In the kitchen, we found ourselves at somewhat at an impasse. So, what about outside of the kitchen? Both products can be used as main ingredients in hair masks and DIY body exfoliating scrubs. However, coconut oil can double on its own as a makeup remover and body moisturizer substitute. We find that the coconut oil can be used for a ton of different things in and out of your beauty regiment. EVCO takes the cake on this round.
Verdict: Maybe one isn’t better than the other. Maybe our showdown was a little pointless and at the end of the day, it simply comes down to what you prefer. We’ll tell you one thing though. We’re sticking to our Extra Virgin Coconut Oil guns.
